Procedure for COVID-19:
Dear current and prospective clients,
The current economic and social climate is a challenging one for all of us. Now more than ever it is important we support each other and remain connected. I am dedicated to providing service to as many clients as I can throughout this time and will only be reducing or changing my practice as is appropriate to follow health guidelines.
(The following guide is based on current advice provided by the Australian Government Department of Health, the World Health Organization and the Australian Psychological Society)
I am working to ensure that I follow relevant advice relating to the coronavirus for the benefit of my clients and our community and as such I have introduced several procedures to be maintained for the foreseeable future.
Accordingly, I will not be seeing in my practice who:
For those clients who have the capability, I am happy to conduct sessions via video conference or telephone. To this end, the Government has recently introduced new COVID-19 Medicare ‘telehealth’ items. This allows video conferencing and telephone sessions to be included under Medicare bulk billing. Eligible clients include persons diagnosed with COVID-19 but who are not clients at a hospital, persons who have been required to isolate in accordance with home isolation guidance and persons considered more susceptible to the COVID-19 virus. (For more information please consult: http://www.mbsonline.gov.au/internet/mbsonline/publishing.nsf/Content/news-2020-03-01-latest-news-March)
As well, for clients who are not eligible for Medicare rebate under this scheme I am open to and welcome the use of video conference and telephone sessions as a socially responsible way to continue therapy during this difficult period.
Finally, for those clients who will continue to attend my practice during this time, I ask that you ensure that you follow strict hygiene practices to ensure that we minimise the spread of COVID-19. I will ensure that my room is sanitised between clients.
Thank you for your consideration, cooperation and understanding throughout this time. It is vital to the continuation of my services to you as a client and for the health and safety of our broader communities.
I will be monitoring advice given by the relevant bodies very closely and my practice may change in accordance with recommendations.
Thank you,
Serena Cauchi
